The sling system provides a safe and effective way to trim your dogs nails, quickly, carefully and with better
results. Even very difficult pets experience less anxiety and do not usually need to be muzzled. Our sling
was custom outfitted for dogs of every size. We have sling harnesses to fit a variety of dogs from extra
small to very large. We use traditional nail clippers or a dremel tool to trim dogs nails. Dogs who have had
to be restrained, muzzled and or sedated in the past can safely be hoisted in the sling usually with little to
no fuss. We believe a little patience and compassion go a long way. Less stress equals a better job and a
happier dog!
For more information Check out our Q and A at the bottom of the page or call the shop to speak with a
staff member.
Q. Why would I want a dremel used to trim my dogs nails as opposed to traditional nail clipper?
A. A dremel tool when used properly is less likely to cut the quick and make the nail bleed as it
sands down the nail. Dremel tools leave the nail soft and rounded as opposed to the sharp
edges left with clippers. Nail clippers are generally faster and some clients prefer them over a
dremel tool. There are times when it is necessary to use both if a dogs nails have not been
trimmed for some time.
Q. Why would I want to put my dog in a sling for a nail trim?
A. When a dog is suspended, we are able to see the nail closer and more clearly. Allowing us to
avoid the quick and prevent any discomfort or injury.
Q. Does it really calm down a nervous or anxious pet?
A. The sling harness provides a gentle hug to your pet, providing comfort. Pets suspended in the
sling are unable to reach us, thus preventing potential biting as well as removing the ability to
struggle and pull their feet away.
Q. Does the sling cost extra?
A. No! Nail trims at Dirty Dog are always $ 9.00. An additional fee may be charged in extreme
cases that take more than one staff member to perform nail trim.
